About Us
Our non-profit organization, Ghana Xchange Volunteers Organization, is a registered organization that provides health, sociocultural, educational and other opportunities for less privileged people, especially, children of the communities in Ghana. Additionally, there are places in the Greater Accra Region and Senya Bereku where volunteers can work. We have been in operation since 2009 and have made tremendous impact in our healthcare project, educational project, and child homecare programs. We ensure internship with passion for students. We are in great need of volunteering support. We have been able to affiliate with some hospitals, clinics and schools in the communities where we do the necessary arrangements in helping volunteers get more work to do.
The people, especially, children in these communities are vulnerable to dangerous conditions including malaria, typhoid, skin diseases, etc. Also, access to quality education, heavy domestic work among others are factors affecting the fortunes of the children negatively.
GXVO is inviting volunteers to assist in the medical program, educational program and childcare home program. Volunteers will help in educating children on teenage pregnancy, HIV/AIDS and other STIs and their associated repercussions on the society. Currently, we are helping 100 children escape this lifestyle by lending a helping hand through education and care. We are focusing on improving our programs for the future. However, our primary challenge is that we need volunteers now to help us with our regular work in the schools, the hospital, as well as Wildlife and environmental conservation.
Generally, volunteers work 7 hours a day and 35 hours a week. Volunteers will have the opportunity to teach various subjects such as languages, maths, arts. They can also organize games and do health talks on health issues in deprived communities in Ghana.
GXVO seeks compassionate individuals to work as volunteers for one or more weeks in Ghana. With the help of these volunteers, health eduaction, health promotion, maternal care, we can empower our children, deliver targeted educational assistance, provide social support, protection for the land and animals and expose the children to the possibilities of escaping this hardship by taking advantage of possible opportunities around the world.
Here in Ghana, we offer a safe, comfortable and a welcoming volunteer facility and an overall positive experience. New volunteers can expect a comprehensive orientation, delicious meals, quality time with our children, and time that will guarantee fulfillment. We offer opportunities to travel around Ghana on off days and weekends to experience the culture of the people, and the magnificence of our country.
Marta Cueler Gomez , a recent volunteer said: “my eight weeks spent with Theresah and the childcare home changed my life. My heart will always be with this special children and I plan to return.”
We believe that it is up to the next generation to break the cycle and unify a continent. Our curriculum and activities inspire a sense of purpose in the hearts of each child by teaching that just one person can make a difference and the health of the people is our concern.
